Privacy
Short, because we collect almost nothing. Last updated: 2026-07-18.
The extension
Collects nothing. No telemetry, no analytics, no accounts, no network calls home. Your lesson progress is stored locally by VS Code on your machine; you can export it to a file, read it, move it or delete it.
The free sampler makes none of the calls below: it never asks for a license key, so it never talks to anyone. If you buy the full edition and enter your license key, the extension sends that key to our merchant of record - the same provider named under "When you buy" - to activate it on your machine, and again roughly every 30 days afterward to revalidate it. If that revalidation cannot reach the provider, the key keeps working offline for a further 14 days before the full edition locks. No other data leaves your machine, and no calls of any kind happen until you enter a license key.
This website
Static pages. No cookies, no analytics scripts, no trackers. Our hosting provider (GitHub Pages) logs requests at the infrastructure level under its own privacy terms, as all hosts do.
Theme preference. If you use the light/dark toggle in
the header, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (not a
cookie) under the key theme, so the site remembers it on your
next visit to this browser on this device. This value never leaves your
browser: it is not sent to us, not shared with any third party, and not
used to identify or track you. Clearing your browser's site data removes
it. If you never use the toggle, no such value is stored, and the site
instead follows your operating system's own light/dark setting.
When you buy
Checkout runs through our merchant of record. They process your payment details and email under their privacy policy; we receive your email address and order details so we can deliver the product and honor refunds. We do not sell or share it, and we do not add you to a mailing list you did not ask for.
Your copy of the paid content
The full edition is watermarked to your purchase: the delivered lesson files carry a marker derived, one way, from your license key, so a copy that leaks publicly can be traced back to the order it came from. The marker is not your name or email; it is a non-reversible identifier we can match to your key on our side only if a leak is found. We use it solely to deter and investigate redistribution, on our legitimate interest in protecting the content. It is never shared, sold, or used to track your use of the product.
When you email us
Our address is hello@expectedlearning.com. We keep the correspondence so we can help you. That is all it is used for.
Your rights
UK GDPR applies. Ask us what we hold about you (it will be an email thread and possibly an order record), ask us to delete it, and we will.
